I hold degrees in Finance and Accounting from the University of Illinois Chicago. My career includes experience with Fortune 500 companies such as Kraft, Inc. and Field Enterprises Educational Corporation. During the 1980s, I served as CFO for Polamer, Inc., Polvision TV, and Polnet Communications – Polish Radio 1030 AM.
In 1991, Governor Jim Edgar appointed me Deputy Director of the Illinois Department of Financial Institutions, a position I held for two terms until 1999. To date, I remain the only Polish-born American to have served in such a senior role within the Illinois State Administration.
Following my public service, I returned to my profession as an accountant and income tax preparer, reactivating my firm, HLB Accounting & Income Tax Preparation. Today, I continue to operate the company in a limited capacity, focusing primarily on personal tax services.
